Sleepy Surgery Day

Archie is out of surgery and the neurosurgeon was able to remove the catheter.  Additionally, where the doctor cut the hole in the skull he was able to put a metal plate (which is good news because otherwise there would be a dent in his head).  Archie got out of surgery around 5 pm and he basically slept the night away.  He was awake for a few minutes- enough to hear that he would be on a liquid diet for the evening which he was not happy about and to answer the vital questions.  I left around 9:15 to head to the house but left him the necessities.

This morning I got there at 7 am because last night Archie talked about me getting there early so we could go on a walk.  That is pretty funny because he slept most of the morning away.  Aaron and Matt came to visit around 9:30 am and he was awake for a while chatting with them and my sister Jessica came for a couple hours as well.  He did fall asleep on them too.  He said he was tired and the bed was comfortable so he was going to sleep.  My goal for the morning was to get him to shower before surgery since a shower would be several days away, that happened about 12:30 pm.  We knew surgery was going to happen sometime "after noon" but we waited and watched the clock for several hours.  They finally came to get him around 3:15 and sent us to the waiting room around 3:45 pm.  The surgery took at about an hour.  He was sent to ICU for the night for monitoring.  If everything goes according to plan he will be there for one night and then sent to the floor for a day or two and we will be home by the end of the week.  I personally will believe it when I see it since plans within the past year have not gone accordingly.

I am planning to go to work tomorrow but will see how Archie is feeling and if he would rather me be with him.  Thankfully my work has been really flexible and patient with my situation.
Thank you for all the prayers that were said for Archie and I.  I really appreciate it!
